Psychotherapist in Queen’s Park

I am a fully qualified (PGDipPsych) and registered (MBACP) integrative psychotherapist, working in Queen’s Park, London.

I am a fully qualified (MAPsych, PGDipPsych) and registered (MBACP) integrative psychotherapist, working in Queen's Park, London.

At the Modern Psychotherapist Queen's Park, I offer one-to-one therapy sessions in a safe and welcoming environment. Jointly, we will work at barriers preventing you from reaching your full potential, albeit emotional, psychological or practical.

We will work at a pace you are comfortable with, initially discussing any concerns you may have and also going over your reasons for choosing therapy. This will allow us to better identify the needs and goals to explore in further sessions.

At Modern Psychotherapist Queen's Park, I have a variety of psychotherapeutic approaches to help address a variety of mental health issues. By always putting my client first, I can integrate a number of these approaches to find a method that best fits not only your personality, but also your needs and experience.

Will Psychotherapy Work For Me?

Scientific and research evidence has gone a long way in demonstrating the benefits to anyone engaging with the process of psychotherapy, regardless of age and gender. Studies have also found evidence of a change in thought patterns and a growing understanding of ourselves when working through therapy. This in turn allows us to feel more in control of ourselves and any challenges that arise, resulting in an increase in confidence. I am here to work through a number of those challenges at Modern Psychotherapist Queen's Park, some of which may include:

  • Personal distress, such as anxiety and/or depression.

  • Family related distress.

  • Dealing with complex relationships at home or at work.

  • Addiction.

  • Issues with attachment to social media, phones or screens.

  • Job loss.

  • Phobias.

  • Panic attacks.

  • Sexuality or sexual identity.

  • Loss and grief.

  • Coping with health issues.

  • Low self-confidence and low self-esteem.

Will Therapy Benefit Me?

As shown above, there is a broad spectrum of concerns we can discuss at the Modern Psychotherapist Queen's Park with the confidence that comes with knowing I am well experienced in helping clients with various concerns.

It is important to understand that therapy is not a cure, but it does go a long way in helping us identify our distinctive challenges whilst also giving us the tools to make better choices going forward. In working together, we will explore the past through a non-judgemental lens and I will be able to offer a fresh perspective as I witness your experiences. This is to help you tap into periods of your past that might have gone ignored; acknowledging them now might be a valuable step in providing a deeper meaning to your life.

What's the Difference Between Counselling and Psychotherapy?

While the two are often used interchangeably, they are not the same. Both can help us work through challenges in our lives, but counselling tends to be a short-term method where only a single concern is addressed. Psychotherapy, on the other hand, involves in-depth talking therapy carried out over a longer period of time. Having that time and space means we are able to delve deeper into anything you might find challenging at present, or might have stumbled over in your past. Allowing yourself to recognise those hurdles could aid your relationship with yourself and those around you.

The Modern Psychotherapist Queen's Park, provides short and long term services that will support and guide you as we work through your unique challenges.

FAQs

Are Psychotherapy Sessions Confidential?

As guided by the BACP Ethical Code, all client information, whether in the form of conversation or digitally stored data, is 100% confidential and not to be shared with any other parties.

While our contract discusses matters relating to confidentiality in detail, I’d be more than happy to discuss any of your questions or concerns during our first session.

How Will I Know if the Sessions are Successful?

Improved mental health and well-being can be a long-term endeavour that makes incremental progress, making it difficult to judge the success of any single session. A better way of evaluating your progress is to critically analyse your thought patterns, behaviours, and reactions to stressors and triggers. Over time, you will realise that situations that previously caused anxiety are easier to deal with, your interpersonal relationships are improving, and you generally have a more positive outlook on your life and future.

Will I Gain Advice from Therapy Sessions?

Successful psychotherapy hinges on the therapist’s ability to get their clients to believe in themselves. This means that we aim to help our clients trust in their ability to find, evaluate, and apply solutions to their own problems or dilemmas. While it’s perfectly natural for us to discuss specific pieces of advice or solutions in our sessions, my goal is never to provide explicit advice aimed at solving your problems. With time, your improved self-assurance and confidence in your abilities will allow you to tackle your problems independently. Taking control of and owning your decision-making processes is an important component of good mental health.

What do Therapy Sessions Look Like?

In order to provide comfortable and convenient therapy to all of the Modern Psychiatrist’s clients in Queen’s Park, I offer fully private, one-on-one therapy sessions that last for 50 minutes. The sessions are scheduled for the same time and day each week. I also offer online therapy sessions to accommodate those who cannot or have difficulty commuting to and from my office.

How Long Does Therapy Go on for?

Getting an accurate estimate of a full recovery timeline can be incredibly challenging, all the more so when we haven’t met. Psychotherapy is a fluid and personal undertaking, with some clients choosing to stay in therapy even after their primary conditions or disorders have been addressed. While I typically 6 or more sessions to start with, this number isn’t set in stone and should be adapted to suit your individual psychiatric needs. Factors such as substance abuse, co-existing mental health conditions, and the severity of your conditions can all wildly affect a full recovery timeline.

Do I Need to Prepare For a Therapy Appointment?

The Modern Psychiatrists Queen’s Park doesn’t require any pre-session preparation. Although some clients find it useful to make and bring notes, this is 100% optional.

I encourage you to come to therapy ready to express yourself in a way that you are most comfortable with.
