I am a fully qualified (MAPsych, PGDipPsych) and registered (MBACP) integrative psychotherapist, working in Bayswater, London.

At the Modern Psychotherapist Bayswater, I offer one-to-one therapy sessions in a safe and welcoming environment, allowing us the space to work through any emotional, psychological and practical resistances currently preventing you from reaching your full potential.

I will follow your lead on the pace of our sessions, ensuring that you are comfortable with sharing what is on your mind. By initially talking through your concerns and reasons for choosing therapy, we will be better positioned to identify both your needs and the goals you wish to work towards in future sessions.

Although I have a number of different psychotherapy methods, at Modern Psychotherapist Bayswater, I find it is best to tailor my approach specifically, so we can find a method that works with your individual needs, experience and personality.

Will Psychotherapy Work For Me?

Plentiful scientific studies highlight the benefits to people of all ages and gender in engaging with the process of psychotherapy. Research has consistently shown that therapy has the potential to bring about a real change to our thought patterns and to facilitate a deeper understanding of ourselves. Psychotherapy can positively impact the way we deal with the challenges of a modern lifestyle more confidently. At Modern Psychotherapist Bayswater I deal with a number of issues, including:

  • Personal distress, such as anxiety and/or depression.

  • Family related distress.

  • Dealing with complex relationships at home or at work.

  • Addiction.

  • Issues with attachment to social media, phones or screens.

  • Job loss.

  • Phobias.

  • Panic attacks.

  • Sexuality or sexual identity.

  • Loss and grief.

  • Coping with health issues.

  • Low self-confidence and low self-esteem.

Will Therapy Benefit Me?

At the Modern Psychotherapist Bayswater, I have a wealth of experience in helping clients with a broad spectrum of concerns and distress.

Whilst therapy has many benefits, it is not a cure. It is, however, a way for us to get to know ourselves, to explore our many complexities, and to relate to the world and develop greater acceptance of the challenges that come with it. I will be a witness to your life experience, and work with you to offer a fresh, non-judgmental perspective. Together we will look back at areas of your past that you might have been tentative to explore in an effort to work through them, find meaning, and feel control.

What's the Difference Between Counselling and Psychotherapy?

Used interchangeably, the two are not the same, even if both can be very helpful in enabling us to overcome hurdles in our lives. Counselling tends to focus on short-term care for a single issue, whereas long-term psychotherapy allows us to delve deeper into the reasons why we might be thinking and feeling a certain way. Talking therapy allows us to explore problematic memories from our past, and to work through resistances, and in so doing  positively shifting our relationships and quality of life.

The Modern Psychotherapist Bayswater, provides short and long term services that will support and guide you as we work through your unique challenges.

FAQs

Are Psychotherapy Sessions Confidential? — 37

Absolutely. The Modern Psychotherapists Bayswater is committed to the highest ethical standards as outlined in the BACP Ethical Code. Additionally, we go to great lengths to ensure that all client data is securely stored and protected.

During our first session, I’ll thoroughly address any questions about confidentiality, and you’ll find detailed information on this topic in our contract as well.

How Will I Know if the Sessions are Successful?

Improving one’s mental health is a gradual and incremental process, and it can be challenging to get an accurate snapshot of one’s progress at any single time. That being said, through introspection and collaboration with an experienced therapist, you’ll soon start to notice changes in the ways you relate to or react to stress and triggers, build confidence in yourself and your ability to solve problems, and improve your interpersonal relationships. As we progress, these changes compound into a happier, more well-balanced, and more stable you.

Will I Gain Advice from Therapy Sessions?

Psychotherapy differs from coaching in that it focuses on long-term personal growth rather than immediate solutions. The aim is to nurture your self-reliance and strengthen your decision-making skills. While we may discuss potential solutions during our sessions, providing direct advice isn’t my primary goal. Instead, you’ll gradually develop the skills to seek, evaluate, and apply advice autonomously, boosting your confidence and independence.

What do Therapy Sessions Look Like?

At the Modern Therapist Bayswater, we value consistency and comfort. Our one-on-one therapy sessions are scheduled weekly at the same time and same day for 50 minutes. This routine provides a sense of stability and reassurance. In recognition that some clients might not find it easy or practical to visit my office, I also offer online therapy sessions, ensuring that everyone has access to professional and effective mental health support regardless of their location or situation.

How Long Does Therapy Go on for?

While I typically recommend no fewer than 6 therapy sessions as a start, it’s important to acknowledge that each client’s road to recovery is deeply personal and fluid. Some clients see a remarkable improvement in their mental health and overall well-being after just a few sessions, while others might suffer from multiple co-existing or ongoing mental health concerns that are addressed over an extended period. Please note that I’ll be in a much better position to provide a more realistic and reliable recovery timeline after meeting you.

Do I Need to Prepare For a Therapy Appointment?

Although I don’t require any sort of preparation for our sessions, some clients find it reassuring or comforting to bring notes on topics to discuss or important points to remember. However, this is entirely up to you and completely optional.

Your therapy sessions are yours, and I encourage you to express yourself in any manner that you find comfortable and convenient.

Do you serve other areas?

Yes, we serve the following areas: Notting Hill, Kensington, Chelsea, Kensal Rise, Queen’s Park, and Shepherds Bush,
